Joining Instructions - Blues Point Yacht Club
Welcome aboard and to the wonderful world of sailing
Important notes:
- You must arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled lesson time. The vessel is only able to pick up and drop off at the jetty, they cannot wait.
- Please give us at least 48 hour’s notice if you are unable to make your lesson.
- Inside 48 hours – you will forfeit your lesson as our J24 and Instructor are already committed
- Outside 48 hours – you will be able to reschedule the lesson but it will depart from our base at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Rushcutters Bay
- Please complete and hand the disclaimer to our Instructor before commencement of your first lesson.
- Weather
- If the weather is inclement, we will provide wet weather gear. We suggest if you have your own jacket and/or pants that you bring these with you.
- The Principal may, at their sole discretion, cancel lessons due to weather conditions. A substitute lesson departing from the original location will be advised. If you are unable to attend this date, the lesson may be taken from our base at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Rushcutters Bay
What to bring:
Dress for the weather, in casual gear. Shorts, leggings and t-shirt or long sleeve top are appropriate. A lightweight jacket is also advisable.
Bring a cap, sunscreen, sunglasses and soft-soled rubber shoes. Dunlop Volleys are available online or from Kmart or Big W and they have great grip. Please note, NO BLACK OR LEATHER SOLED SHOES.
Bare feet, thongs and heels are not allowed.
We recommend that you do not wear loose jewellery (ie necklaces), large ear-rings or rings or good watches on board. Phones, keys and other personal items should be securely stored in zipped pockets or bags. Bags may be left below deck.
Long hair should be securely tied back.
Practice Sessions
Practice sails:
- will be available for 6 weeks after your last lesson
- are conducted from our base at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia
- are offered on a standby basis
- call our office the day before to check availability
