SAFETY & SEA SURVIVAL

eLearning and Practical

  • eLearning Full Course 6 hours
  • eLearning Refresh/Revalidation Course 3-4 hours
  • Practical component 4 hours – flares at 3.30pm and pool at 4pm

With the creation of the eLearning course, the Safety & Sea Survival course is now a fantastic, blended learning opportunity. Participants experience practical wet drills which include launching and boarding a life raft, setting off flares, and deploying an inflatable lifejacket in water.

RYA COASTAL SKIPPER / YACHTMASTER THEORY

eLearning and Virtual

  • Two virtual sessions per week over three weeks
  • Midweek evenings 1800 to 2100

This is a blended eLearning and Virtual course of 40 hours plus 6 x 3-hour virtual evenings with our RYA Yachtmaster Instructors.

Advanced training for more experienced skippers building on the Day Skipper course. This course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages.

MARINE RADIO

eLearning and Practical

The eLearning study time is around 6 hours, and the 3-hour practical includes a multiple-choice paper and practical training/assessment on the radio.

You will be required to operate a VHF which enables access to e-notices (notice to mariners) and is a prerequisite to getting your vessel’s radio MMSI number. A license is issued by AMC (fee payable direct) and is a requirement to operate a VHF unless used in an emergency.

Course access is available indefinitely to review if required.

RYA YACHTMASTER OCEAN THEORY

Classroom Course – 5 Days

RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor. 40 hours plus exams.

Unravel the mysteries of astro navigation, using a sextant, ocean passage making, worldwide meteorology and electronic navigation aids.

This course is for those aspiring to blue water cruising and is ideal for holders of the Yachtmaster Offshore certificate who are preparing for their first ocean passage. Topics covered include: The earth and the celestial sphere, practical guide to use and care of sextant at sea, meridian altitudes, sun, star, and other sights, ocean passage planning

Before the course, your navigation skills should be at the standard of the Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore shore-based course.

If you are working towards your Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate of Competence, completion of this shore-based course exempts you from the written exam. Course In combination with a separate provider.
