SAFETY & SEA SURVIVAL (Practical)

With the creation of the e-learning course, the Safety & Sea Survival course is now a fantastic, blended learning opportunity. Participants will still get to experience the practical wet drills – which include launching and boarding a life raft, setting off flares, and deploying an inflatable lifejacket in water.

RYA COASTAL SKIPPER / YACHTMASTER THEORY

This is a blended eLearning and Virtual course of 40 hours plus 6 x 3-hour virtual evenings with our RYA Yachtmaster Instructors.
Advanced training for more experienced skippers building on the Day Skipper course. This course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages.

eLearning and Practical
The eLearning study time is around 6 hours, and the 3-hour practical includes a multiple-choice paper and practical training/assessment on the radio.
You will be required to operate a VHF which enables access to e-notices (notice to mariners) and is a prerequisite to getting your vessel’s radio MMSI number. A license is issued by AMC and is a requirement to operate a VHF unless used in an emergency.
Course access is available indefinitely to review if required.
RYA DAY SKIPPER THEORY

The RYA Day Skipper eLearning and Virtual Course include 16 modules that can be completed in your own time and pace blended with an additional 4 x 3-hour Tuesday and Thursday evening virtual sessions. A great way to cover the hard bits before you start the exercises, providing a new and more flexible course option.
RYA YACHTMASTER OCEAN THEORY

Classroom Course – 5 Days
Unravel the mysteries of astro navigation, using a sextant, ocean passage making, worldwide meteorology and electronic navigation aids.
This course is for those aspiring to blue water cruising and is ideal for holders of the Yachtmaster Offshore certificate who are preparing for their first ocean passage. Topics covered include: The earth and the celestial sphere, practical guide to use and care of sextant at sea, meridian altitudes, sun, star, and other sights, ocean passage planning
Prior to the course, your navigation skills should be at the standard of the Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore shore-based course.
If you are working towards your Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate of Competence, completion of this shore-based course exempts you from the written exam. Course In combination with a separate provider.
