Sailing Holiday

Pristine Natural Beauty Awaits

September 2026

Terry is exploring the Dalmatian Coast on a 14 -day Sailing Holiday

Croatia has a stunning accessible coastline with numerous islands, crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and a rich history evident in its ancient towns and ruins.

The short distances between islands allow for extensive exploration of culture, nature, and cuisine.

This remarkable blend of pristine natural beauty, accessibility to numerous islands, and rich cultural heritage provides a truly unique and captivating experience that is difficult to find elsewhere in the Mediterranean.

Croatia, an exquisite collection of islets and islands

Croatia is often overlooked in favour of Greece for a Sailing Holiday.

The sheer number of islands, many of which are uninhabited, means countless secluded coves, hidden bays and private beaches often only accessible by boat, are waiting for us to discover them.

The shoulder season of September offers the best balance of pleasant weather, warm seas and fewer crowds than the peak summer months. With air temperatures between 24-26 degrees C and water hovering consistently around 23, snorkeling and swimming will be daily pleasures.

Our Itinerary

A Typical Day on Board

Wake up with a splash—literally! Start with a refreshing swim in a hidden bay, then enjoy breakfast on deck. Sail to your next stunning spot, whether it’s exploring coastal towns, hiking, or relaxing on a quiet beach. Evenings? Fresh local dinners, Terry’s legendary stories, and stargazing from the deck. Pure Mediterranean bliss with a side of Aussie charm.

Highlights of the Journey:

Located in Central Dalmatia, Šibenik is one of the few cities in the World with 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the Cathedral of St. James and the St. Nicholas Fortress. Be sure to add a day or two to your trip to explore this fascinating town, and see the filming locations for the Game of Thrones series

The park is famous for its seven major waterfalls, formed from porous limestone and known as tufa or travertine barriers.

  • Skradinski Buk is the most famous and largest waterfall, consisting of 17 cascades that flow into a large, emerald-green pool.
  • Roški Slap is the second most popular waterfall, featuring a main waterfall of 22.5 meters and many smaller cascades known as “the Necklaces”.
  • Manojlovac Slap is the tallest and most impressive of the waterfalls, with a drop of nearly 60 meters.

This is a submerged river valley (ria) where the freshwater of the Krka River meets the salty seawater that enters through a channel from the Šibenik harbor. This unique mix of fresh and saltwater creates an ideal environment for breeding high-quality mussels. The water is salty on the bottom and freshwater on the surface.

  • Stipanac Islet is a small island with ruins dating from antiquity to medieval times. A legend tells of a cruel lord, Gavan, who lived there and whose castle was submerged due to his malice.
  • Explore local cuisine in the small villages that surround the lake, offering a chance to try local specialties like eel and the famous mussels.

The main settlement, also named Kaprije, is located in a deep, natural bay on the southwest part of the island, which is well-protected from winds.

  • With a small permanent population (around 150 inhabitants), the island offers a glimpse into traditional Croatian island life. Locals are primarily engaged in fishing, olive growing, and viticulture.
  • Discover beautiful pebble beaches in the main bay or explore numerous secluded coves for privacy and swimming in the clear Adriatic Sea.
The historic town of Primošten is known for its picturesque location on a small, once-isolated peninsula, stunning beaches, and a vibrant cultural scene.
  • Originally an island called Gola Glava (“Bare Head”), it was separated from the mainland by a narrow sea channel. In the 16th century, the inhabitants built a causeway and a moving bridge to connect it to the mainland for easier access and protection from the Ottomans. The town was eventually named Primošten, derived from the Croatian verb “primostiti,” meaning “to bridge over”.
  • The heart of Primošten is its beautifully preserved medieval old town, featuring a labyrinth of narrow, winding cobblestone streets, traditional stone houses, charming cafes, and small shops, all leading uphill to the parish church.
  • Located at the highest point of the peninsula, the Church of St. George is a 15th-century church which was reconstructed in 1760. The area around the church offers breathtaking, 360-degree panoramic views of the open sea, the surrounding islands, and the town’s distinctive red rooftops.

Dugi Otok, which literally means “Long Island” in Croatian, is known for its dramatic landscapes, tranquil atmosphere, and stunning natural attractions. It is an ideal destination for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful escape from crowded tourist spots.

  • Covering the southern part of the island, Telascica Nature Park is a major highlight. It features a deep, protected bay with 25 small beaches, dramatic sea cliffs (some rising over 160 meters), and Lake Mir, a unique saltwater lake that is warmer than the sea and known for its therapeutic mud.
  • Located in the north of the island, Sakarun Beach is a famous beach known for its soft, white sand and vibrant turquoise, shallow water. Surrounded by pine trees, it has a Caribbean-like feel and is excellent for families.
  • At the island’s northwestern tip stands the Veli Rat Lighthouse is the tallest in the Adriatic at 42 meters. Built in 1849, its yellow facade is said to have been painted with thousands of egg yolks. Climb the tower for spectacular panoramic views.
  • An unique historical curiosity, abandoned military submarine pens built by the Yugoslav People’s Army can be found carved into the hillsides at certain inlets and are accessible for exploration.

The itinerary is flexible, adapting to weather and group preferences—because adventure doesn’t stick to a script!
