WELCOME TO SAILING
WHO ARE WE?
Terry Wise started Pacific Sailing School in 1977 and since then we have taught over 85,000 people how to sail.
With Sydney Harbour as our classroom and expert Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and Australian Sailing (AS) Instructors, who share their knowledge and passion for sailing with all our students.
We encourage our students to join the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCS), where we are based, and with over 2,000 introductions so far, it’s no wonder Terry can’t get down the dock without someone stopping to chat.
At Pacific Sailing School, you will learn to sail in a safe, friendly and supportive environment. We have Instructors available at all levels providing you with the opportunity to learn from a variety of qualified individuals.
We are the longest running Keelboat Sailing School in Australia and embrace the theories and principals of both Australian Sailing and the Royal Yachting Association to provide our students with internationally recognised training and Commercial opportunities.
Whether you are a novice or have many years of sailing under your belt, we have courses and pathways that provide you with the best opportunities for success.
Check out Our Team to see the depth of experience we have to share with you.

OUR LOCATION
We are based in Rushcutters Bay at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, the premier ocean racing club in the Southern Hemisphere.
Edgecliff and Kings Cross Stations are a 7 minute walk, frequent buses less than 3 minutes and it is a short 10 minute drive to the CBD. You won't find a Sailing School in a better location.
After an exciting day on the water, we will return to the Club's sundeck to share a drink, a casual meal and some tales of the day's exploits..
CREW AT THE CYCA
The CYCA hosts what is considered yachting's "Everest" - the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race as well as offering a full and varied Inshore and Offshore Racing Calendar.
With over 40 years tenure at the CYCA, we can place students on members yachts in ongoing crewing positions.
We encourage students to become members of the CYCA and continue their sailing adventures.
"Myself and the crew of the Winning Appliances completed the World Sailing Safety and Sea Survival course prior to this year’s Sydney to Hobart race. Terry was highly professional and the course was extremely valuable, as it helped everyone to understand their responsibilities and practice strategies and procedures to prevent and address emergencies at sea. I would highly recommend this course and Terry Wise to anyone considering doing an offshore race"
We have made so many friends out on the water on their excellent range of boats with instructors Terry, Gardo, Phil and Damien – not to mention great introductions in the CYCA. They have recently assisted with great advice as we purchased and renovated our Marten 49 cruiser-racer. Later in the year – I need to come and do the theory for Coastal / Ocean Yachtmaster.
All of this wouldn't have been possible without my Aussie sailing family and friends through the advice, support, introductions, and generally making sailing so much fun. Thank you!! 😘
